For the Love of Winter

When we first moved into our cozy little apartment back in August I dreamt of those cold winter nights curled up by the fire, a warm drink in hand and snow softly falling outside of our large windows.

Perfection.

Now that those cold days are upon us I do find myself with those moments, but many more moments of shouting, “Close the door!” and racing to the bathroom trying not to let my bare toes get too cold on the kitchen floor in the morning. The chill in these winter days makes it hard to remember the heat of August!

And although we have been experiencing some of the coldest days, seemingly EVER, I am still trying to enjoy them. With today being family day, it seemed like a great time to take a break and get together with some friends (basically family, right?). When a text came through to hang out this afternoon I knew that the little rink in the park would be perfect.

With little ones scattered around, slipping and sliding while reaching for parents hands, nets set up for late nights of hockey, grandparents laughing from the sidelines - the park was picturesque. With skates and sticks in hand, we joined the movement of the rink.

And of course, this presented a great opportunity to play with my (still new) camera.

Good friends are so important, and we are thankful to have such great people in our lives. People who will skate with us, laugh with us, and not mind if the apartment isn’t spotless. We love these two.

Even in this chilly weather, try to get outside and enjoy it. It can definitely be easier to hide away, put on the sweats and not come out until all of the white stuff is gone, but there is joy found in the beauty of winter. Go ahead, tie the skates. Try something new.

Enjoy it!
